Congratulations State FFA Placers!

Congratulations State FFA Placers!

The BerMis FFA Chapter traveled to Lincoln for the 90th State FFA Convention on April 4-6, 2018. The theme for this year was “MAKE IT COUNT” and the members did their best to make this year memorable. As they mingled with others, they were able to take part in many different activities throughout the three days. There were twenty five members that took part in 11 different competitions.

Teams competing on Wednesday were Natural Resources, Agriculture Mechanics, Agriscience, Ag Communications, and Farm Management. Those teams left early at 7am with a send-off by the Loomis Fire Department  and the rest of the members left on the bus at noon with a send-off from the Bertrand Fire Department.

Thursday brought an early morning for the Food Science participants. As their competition went on, the rest of the members present went to a Leadership Academy where the speaker talked about “villains in your life”, like the people who hold you back from doing what you need to do.  Later in the afternoon, the Livestock Management team headed out for their competition. They placed 6th overall and 2nd in the Poultry section.  Thursday evening, the BerMis FFA Alumni took the members out to eat at The Eatery for a wonderful meal. After the meal everyone enjoyed Rock the Rec and got to participate in lots of fun activities at the Campus Rec Center.

Friday was a great day for our livestock judgers.  The team started their competitions at 6:30 A.M. at the UNL Animal Science Arena.  The Junior Livestock Selection team placed first overall. The team placed 1st as a team in Beef. The Poultry  Evaluation team competed later on Friday and placed 5th overall.

The BerMis FFA members and advisors would like to thank both the Loomis Public School and Bertrand Community School administration and staff for their support.  Also, we greatly appreciate Tricia Grabenstein, Christy Pelton, and Cindy Peterson for going along as sponsors as well as Mark Taute who was our bus driver at State Convention.   A big thank you to Aurora Cooperative, Countryside Market, C-Plus and Orschlens for their donation and , also to the parents who donated and packed snacks and drinks, We also greatly appreciate  all who helped prepare students for their events!   You helped make their success possible.
